We use the word ‘perspective’ in several quite different ‘senses’ :
usually 3D Visually.
There are quite different ‘visual’-perspectives, too:
take the opening part of TV UK drama “Secret Army”.
The dramatic minor key bass-clef ‘noir’ music
carries us along the cold deserted
continental infrastructure scene
as it shows dusk
and a large square mansion
silhouetted against the skyline in the distance
with one small square of light
gleaming in the picture’s centre …
as the scene and ‘doom’-music cross-fade into
a dark receding avenue of trees
and a narrow but perfectly straight grey-stone lane
leading to a small dark square
in the centre-picture distance
exactly ‘taking-over’ from the opening
open countryside-manorhouse’s distant window-light –
as we “close-in” and it enlarges to become
a railway line leading onto a square railway-bridge …
and on out again,
into a muddy country road …
all still under a darkening overhead sky …

“Perspective” becomes quite some “Narrative” !
And
we apply it in other “perceptual” situations also:
to get a whole-situation “in perspective”.

Such an introduction is advisable now in the 21st Century;,
because
in this now “disasters-proliferating” world
we need to be
dispassionately & incisively
scrutinising
some of our most cherished and traditional-perspectives
as it were now under threat of WW3 and Ultimate-Extinction
“with no holds barred”.
