“Your Grandfather’s Clock …”

“… was too tall for the shelf,
so it stood
90 years
on the floor
… ”

Thre are so many
different sorts of
“clock”
these days
that nobody going to “miss”
either grandfather or his clock
when one or the other
or both of them
“die”

are they ?

“…It was taller by half
than the old man himself,
But it weighed not a pennyweight more ”’

It was bought on the morn
Of the day that he was born,

And was always his treasure and his pride;
But it stopped –
Short –
Never to go again –
When the old
man
died.”

[Chorus]
“Ninety years without slumbering =
(Tick -Tock-Tick-Tock)
His life seconds numbering
(Tick-Tock-Tick)
But it
stopped –
short –
Never to go again –
When the old
man
died”.

———————————
UNFORTUNATELY
That was all back in the Days-of-Old –
When one-and-all
and old men short or tall
enjoyed both the heat and the cold
BECAUSE
They were all so much more
“alive- alive-o”.

NOWADAYS
We could very well
all “die” –

all-at-once
too

But you “bet your life”
All the “clocks” –
even grandfather’s –
Will keep-going –

Tick – Tock – Tick – Tock …

🙂
