An Open University ‘Glitch’.

In the Open University’s
highly worldwde-subscribed
Major-Branch Institution
Open-Learning-Online

there is a
quite ‘sore’ little-issue
over
“Course Completion”.

This is –
[to-be-calling-a-spade-a-spade]
the ‘premature-issue’ of
‘certificate-looking-alike’

Statements of Participation.
—————————————————–
I
[your
http://lifefresh.net
longstanding ‘publisher’]
have just signed-into
a succession of three
Open Learning Online
free short courses –

and ‘accidentally-discovered’ that

if one copies-and-pastes the course notes
onto ones computer desktop Notepad [*]

the University’s
“Bot-Monitor”
will have ‘faithfully’ seen that
the Course Stages Notes
have all been visited
and have
“therefore presumably been ‘seen’ “
“further-presumably been ‘worked-with’
and possibly ‘comprehended’

and ‘therefore’
the Bot has issued you a personal
“Statement of Participation”.

ALARMING INSTANCE
Here’s their main wording
from a quite
“EarthLife-Survival-Task 5-hours Short-Course”
“Climate Change: transitions to sustainability –
Intermediate level” :-

……………………………………………………………………………………….
Open Learn
free learning from the Open University

Statement of Participation
John Miles
has completed the free course
including any mandatory tests for
Climate Change: transitions to sustainability

This 5-hour free course laid out the case for
an end to the human reliance on fossil fuels
and looked at
some ways this might be possible.

Issue date: 20 December 2020,

www.open.edu/openlearn

This statement does not imply
the award of credit points
nor the conferment of a university qualification.
This statement confirms that
this free course and all mandatory tests
were passed by the learner.

ASTERISKEDS
[*]
copying the course is
in order to genuinely
‘work-through & make notes on’
the knowledge, knowhow,
facts and factors
in one’s own time –
which might well take months –

and which in all three courses
I found to be necessary to
‘complete’ one’s ‘total-learning’
up to a
‘personal-&-lifeplace-competency’
level .
