In the case of our current-human-civilisation
our Ruling-Governance
competitively
-even-conflictingly-
doubly-differentiates
between
(1) ‘survival-needs’ and ‘thrival-needs’
and
(2) ‘Needs’ and ‘Rights’.
————————-
Publicised definitions and descriptions are
“foggy” – “far from ‘clear”-
and hence
“not-fit-for-purpose [**]”
————-
INSTANCE FROM THE ONLINE OPEN-UNIVERSITY
“What is the connection between human needs and human rights?
Human needs are tangible and intangible possessions that humans will not survive without, like food and water.
Human rights are tangible and intangible possessions that humans are entitled to by virtue of being human.”
——————–
[**] “Purpose” now needs clarifying, too.
{As would the deliberately ‘gordian-knotted’
“All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others“.
==================================================
The ‘civilised’ decision that
“before a human-being can even ‘have’ a ‘need’***
s/he must become “entitled” to a right-to-have-that-need’
=============================
ISSUE
It seems to the ‘free-thinking’ mind that
(1) Needs are ‘absolute lifesupportive necessities.
(2) Rights are the civilisational ‘permissions’ to satisfy those Needs.
============================================
NOTES
*** “need”:
i.e. can live according to
(i) the Biological fact that
every lifeform
(including every human-being)
has a sevenfoldly-existential Need to be
Moving (self-moving)
Respiring (including Breathing)
Sensing (having and using its Senses)
Growing (‘normally’)
Reproducing (its own-species
Eliminating (its body’s waste-matter)
Nourishing (self-nurturing).
